My Story
My journey to yoga was one of necessity. Mary (my wife) had been trying to get me to come to yoga for years and it was only when I did my back did I gain a full appreciation of the benefits of yoga.
I’ve practiced predominately in Hatha and Yin yoga for the last 6 years and the inevitable happened. With some encouragement (and much patience) from Mary, I ventured out and undertook teacher training with Heather Agnew of Yoga Trinity in the Vinyasa Flow style of yoga.
What an experience! First time back in a class room for years and having to get the grey matter moving, let alone the body, was a challenge.
I came out the other end with a 285 Hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate that is endorsed by Yoga Australia, Yoga Alliance as well as Fitness Australia. To build on the basics, I also recently completed a 50Hr Yin Yoga Teacher Training with Tara Fitzgibbon of Terrafirma Yoga. Again, to further my knowledge in yoga but also to enable me to bring Yin yoga to the mat for my students.
For me into the future… further studies in the area of trauma and stress management through yoga. There are a number of organisations that specialise in this area and I would really welcome the opportunity to bring this to the Jervis Bay area for those in Defence and other emergency services organisations that more than often find themselves on the frontline.
